Reporting & take-down process
This page describes how end-users, rights holders, and other aggrieved parties can report content that may violate our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy, and how Shots reviews reports and may remove content or restrict accounts.
1. Submitting a report
- Use the Report content form (also linked from site footer and creator profile pages).
- Select the category that best matches the issue (e.g. adult content, copyright, IP infringement, violent extremism, or other policy violation).
- Provide a clear description (required) of what you observed and why you believe it violates our policies. Minimum length is enforced so we can triage effectively.
- Where possible, include the creator username, link or URL to the specific post or page, and any other identifiers.
- Optionally provide your email if you want us to follow up (e.g. as a rights holder).
- If you are a rights holder or otherwise aggrieved party, you may indicate that using the checkbox on the form.
Reports are delivered to Shots operations via our backend when email delivery is configured; otherwise they are logged for review. See our detection and enforcement summary for automated vs. manual handling.
2. Review and triage
Submissions are reviewed by our team (or designated administrators). We consider the category, description, URLs, seriousness, repeat behavior, and applicable law and payment-partner requirements. We may request additional information via the contact email you provided, when available.
Timing: We aim to act on clear violations promptly, but we do not guarantee a fixed response time for every report. Complex cases (e.g. disputed copyright) may take longer. Emergencies involving imminent harm or illegal activity should be reported to appropriate authorities as well.
3. Take-down and other actions
If we determine that content or behavior violates our Terms or Acceptable Use Policy, we may take one or more of the following actions, in our discretion:
- Remove or disable access to specific posts, images, profile elements, or other content on Shots.
- Demonetize in the sense that removed content can no longer be tipped, subscribed to, or sold through the platform; we may also restrict the creator's ability to receive new payments while issues are addressed.
- Warn the account holder or require corrective action.
- Suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations.
- Withhold or reverse payouts where permitted by law and our agreements, pending investigation or as a consequence of policy breaches.
- Cooperate with payment partners, rights holders, and law enforcement when legally required or appropriate.
We are not obligated to notify reporters of every outcome. If you provided an email, we may acknowledge receipt or follow up when necessary.
4. Repeat violators
Shots maintains practices aimed at repeat violators of the Terms and Acceptable Use Policy. Enforcement is progressive and contextual: we weigh the nature of each violation, harm, intent, and whether the user or account has violated our policies before.
- First-time or minor issues may receive warnings, required takedowns, or short restrictions.
- Repeated violations typically lead to stronger measures: extended suspension, loss of monetization features, permanent ban, and stricter payout holds.
- Severe or illegal conduct may result in immediate termination or referral without a prior warning sequence.
This approach is also reflected in our Acceptable Use Policy (Repeat violators).
5. Intellectual property and copyright
Rights holders should use the report form with the relevant category and sufficient detail to assess the claim (e.g. work allegedly infringed, your relationship to the rights, location of the content on Shots). We may remove or disable access to material in appropriate circumstances. Bad-faith or fraudulent notices may result in account consequences.
6. Appeals and mistakes
If you believe your content was removed or your account was restricted in error, contact us through the same reporting channel or reply to any communication you received from us, with your username and a concise explanation. We will review good-faith appeals when feasible.
Summary
Report via /report. Review by our team. Take-down may include content removal, demonetization, warnings, suspension, termination, or payout holds, consistent with our policies and applicable law. Repeat violators face escalating enforcement.
