Acceptable Use Policy
Shots provides a creator-first platform for tips, memberships, and commissions. Our Terms of Service incorporate this Acceptable Use Policy. By using Shots, you agree to follow it.
Prohibited monetization of content
Shots does not allow the monetization of content in the following categories. This applies to all paid features on the platform, including tips, subscriptions, memberships, commissions, and any other way creators earn through Shots.
- Adult content and services
Content that contains nudity or explicit sexual acts (for example: subscriber-only nude images, adult audio/video, live chat of a sexual nature).
- Intellectual property or proprietary rights infringement
Content or offerings that infringe someone else's intellectual property or other proprietary rights.
- Copyright-infringing content
For example: distributing leaked music albums, pirated media, or other content you do not have the rights to sell or gate behind payment.
- Violent extremism
Content that engages in, encourages, promotes, or celebrates unlawful violence or hate speech toward any group based on race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other immutable characteristic.
Detection, demonetization & removal
Does Shots programmatically detect, demonetize, and remove violative content? In part. We combine automated checks with manual enforcement — we do not rely on automation alone, and not every surface is programmatically scanned.
- Image uploads (automated, when enabled): Certain images uploaded to Shots — including images attached to posts, profile photos, and cover images — may be analyzed by an automated moderation service before publication. If the service flags content that violates our guidelines, the upload is rejected and the image is not published. Content that is never published cannot be monetized on Shots through that upload. This is one form of programmatic detection and prevention (sometimes called pre-publish blocking).
- What is not fully covered by automation: Automated tools may not evaluate every type of content (for example all text fields, messages, commission listings, or media hosted outside Shots). Classifiers can miss violations or incorrectly flag benign content. We do not claim 100% automated coverage of every policy category for every user action.
- Demonetization & removal (manual and account-level): We may remove content that is already live, suspend or terminate accounts, and withhold or reverse payouts when we determine this policy or our Terms have been violated — including based on reports, investigations, payment-partner notices, or legal process. That addresses monetization and content that automation did not block at upload.
Reporting violations
Yes — Shots provides a way to report content that may violate our Acceptable Use Policy or Terms of Service, and to request review and removal where appropriate. End-users, rights holders, and other aggrieved parties can submit a report through our Report content form. Include as much detail as possible (links, creator username, and why the content may violate our policies). If you are a rights holder reporting infringement, you may indicate that on the form and provide contact information for follow-up. For step-by-step handling and take-down actions, see our Reporting & take-down process.
Enforcement
We may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, withhold payouts, and cooperate with payment partners and law enforcement when we believe this policy or our Terms have been violated. Reports submitted through Report content are reviewed by our team.
Repeat violators
Yes — Shots applies escalating enforcement for repeat violations of this Acceptable Use Policy or our Terms of Service. A single incident may result in a warning and content removal; continued or egregious violations are treated more severely.
- We consider violation history when deciding enforcement — including multiple reports, restored-then-repeated abuse, or patterns of the same prohibited conduct.
- Escalation may include: stricter account restrictions, longer or permanent suspension, termination of the account, withholding or reversing payouts where permitted, and referral to payment partners or law enforcement when appropriate.
- We are not required to issue a fixed number of warnings before suspension or termination, especially for severe violations (e.g. violent extremism, sexual exploitation of minors, or clear illegal activity).
More detail appears in our Reporting & take-down process.
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of Shots after changes means you accept the updated policy.
